શરદ નવરાત્રિ — મહત્વ
નવરાત્રિ — "નવ રાત્રિઓ" — શક્તિ આરાધનાનો પ્રમુખ તહેવાર. આસો સુદ એકમથી નોમ સુધી દુર્ગાના નવ રૂપ ક્રમશઃ પૂજવામાં આવે છે. ગુજરાતનો સર્વોત્તમ તહેવાર — ગરબા અને દાંડિયા રાસ વિશ્વભરમાં પ્રસિદ્ધ. ગામે ગામ માતાજીની છબી સામે ગરબા ગવાય; યુવાનો રંગબેરંગી ચણિયા ચોળી અને કેડિયું પહેરી રાસ રમે. વડોદરા, અમદાવાદ, રાજકોટ, સુરતના ગરબા જગવિખ્યાત. દસમો દિવસ વિજયા દશમી.
શરદ નવરાત્રિ — પૌરાણિક કથા
According to the Markandeya Purana, Goddess Durga fought the buffalo demon Mahishasura for nine days and nights and slew him on the tenth (Vijayadashami). Each day is associated with a form of the goddess (Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, Siddhidatri).
શરદ નવરાત્રિ — પૂજા વિધિ
- At sunrise, take a bath and set up the kalash or goddess idol.
- Perform daily puja with flowers, incense, and offerings for nine days.
- Observe vrat as per tradition; eat only vrat-approved foods.
- On the eighth or ninth day, perform Kanya Puja (worship of nine girls).
