Niladri Bije — મહત્વ
Final day of the Puri Rath Yatra cycle, observed on Ashadha Shukla Trayodashi when the trinity finally re-enters the sanctum of the main Jagannath Temple after several days parked on Their chariots at the Singhadwara. A celebrated playful episode unfolds at the temple gate — Goddess Mahalakshmi initially refuses Jagannath entry (resentful of His long absence), and He pacifies Her with Rasagola sweets before the deities are taken inside.
Niladri Bije — મહત્વ
After Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra return from the Gundicha Temple on Bahuda Yatra (Day 10), the chariots remain at the Singhadwara — the lion gate of the main temple — for three days. On Trayodashi, the deities are taken from the chariots into the temple. According to Puri tradition, Goddess Mahalakshmi, who had been left behind in the main temple, is displeased that Jagannath went to Gundicha without informing Her. She bars the door of the Jay Vijay Dwar (the inner gate). Jagannath, in a beloved act of placation, offers Her Rasagola — the round chhena sweet — to win Her forgiveness. Only then does She permit Him entry. This episode is the origin of "Rasagola Dibasa," celebrated across Odisha on the same day with mass distribution of the sweet.
