Kabir Jayanti marks the birth of Sant Kabir, the weaver-saint who preached unity of God and criticised ritual without devotion. It is observed on Jyeshtha Purnima (full moon).
Kabir Jayanti — પૌરાણિક કથા
According to the Bijak and Kabir Parachai, Kabir was brought up by a Muslim weaver family in Varanasi. He had no formal guru but was influenced by Ramananda. His dohas and songs stress the formless (Nirgun) God and the futility of caste and ritual. He is revered by Hindus and Muslims alike.
