Indira Ekadashi falls in Ashwin Krishna Paksha. It is believed to help ancestors attain liberation. King Indrasena observed it and freed his father from Yama's realm.
Indira Ekadashi — પૌરાણિક કથા
According to the Padma Purana, Sage Narada told King Indrasena to observe this Ekadashi to help his father in the afterlife. The king did so, and his father was released from Yama's realm and attained heaven. The vrat benefits both the observer and ancestors.
Indira Ekadashi — પૂજા વિધિ
- Observe Ekadashi fast; bathe at sunrise.
- Offer puja to Lord Vishnu and perform shraddha or tarpan for ancestors.
- Chant Vishnu mantras; donate food to Brahmins or the needy in ancestors' name.
- Break the fast on Dwadashi after puja.
